Urgent, Second Reminder: Action Required for Your Child's BYOD Device

1 November 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Urgent, Second Reminder: Action Required for Your Child's BYOD Device

This is a second reminder regarding your child’s BYOD device. If you have already taken action, please disregard the rest of this letter.

Following a recent review by the ICT team at the end of Term Three, we noted that your child’s device is still not registered on the school's domain. This may be due to:

  • Your child's device did not meet the minimum required specifications for our BYOD program.
  • Their device was not available in class during the ICT team's check.

Next Steps:

1.   Device Recheck: If your child’s device was not checked by the ICT team, or if you believe the device meets the minimum required specifications (as outlined in the attached BYOD letter below), your child must bring

their device to the ICT team for a recheck. This will ensure the device is compliant and can be properly registered on our network for 2025.

2.   Purchase of a New Device: If your child’s device does not meet the required specifications, it will need to be replaced. Please refer to the attached BYOD letter below for details on the minimum device specifications. All new devices must be purchased through the College portal to ensure compatibility with our systems and network security. The portal link, along with more detailed specifications, can be found in the attached BYOD letter.

For your convenience, you can follow this link to the College Portal to view and purchase the required device: https://lighthouse.orderportal.com.au

Important Dates:

To avoid any disruption to your child’s learning, we recommend completing any necessary purchases or checks as soon as possible.

Please Note:

Any devices purchased after 31 October 2024 may not be ready for the start of the 2025 academic year. The sooner the device is ordered the more like the device will be ready for the start of 2025.

At the commencement of 2025 only student devices registered on the school domain will have access to

our systems, software and internet. Hence, all students will need to have a compliant device to be able to effectively participate in the learning delivered at the school.

For questions about your child’s device, contact the ICT team at helpdesk@lighthouse.vic.edu.au

For inquiries about the BYOD program, reach out to the E-Learning Coordinator at eLearning@lighthouse.vic.edu.au. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and for ensuring your child is prepared for a successful year ahead.
