Carpark Safety at Lighthouse

27 January 2025

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Drop-off and Pick-up Procedure Reminder

We would like to remind all families about the procedures for using the Kiss & Go area, with some new updates to improve safety and efficiency during drop-off and pick-up times. These updates include newly painted lines and a designated "Keep Clear" area in front of the Sports Centre to ensure safe and smoother movement for everyone.

Key Updates and Reminders

1. Newly Painted Lines and Keep Clear Area:

  • A "Keep Clear" zone has been added in front of the Sports Centre. This area must remain open to ensure safe passage for students.
  • The freshly painted lines in the Kiss & Go area clearly indicate where vehicles should stop and wait. Yellow and black chevron lines indicate areas where cars should not stop.

2. Student Pathway:

  • A designated corridor continues to guide students safely after being dropped off. The right side is cordoned off with a chain to prevent students from crossing in front of cars, while the left side offers access to the pathway.

3. Pedestrian Gathering Area:

  • Parents who park their cars in the carpark to collect their children must wait inside the cordoned-off area within the Sports Centre. Gathering in front of the Sports Centre is not permitted, as it forces students to walk into the road to get past groups of people.
  • Once you have collected your child, please leave the area promptly to allow others to access the space safely.

4. Efficient Traffic Flow:

  • Parents are reminded to pull forward as far as possible in the Kiss & Go area and avoid leaving gaps between vehicles. This allows cars behind you to enter the school grounds more efficiently and reduces congestion along Springvale Road.
  • Cars waiting in the Kiss & Go area for more than three minutes will be prompted to loop around to maintain traffic flow.

Important Guidelines

  • Stick to the speed limit and drive even slower at busy times.
  • Remain in your vehicle while using the Kiss & Go area.
  • Follow the guidance of staff and traffic wardens on duty.
  • Remember that pedestrians have the right of way at pedestrian crossings.
  • Ensure your children only cross the road at the designated pedestrian crossings.
  • Do not park in disabled parking spaces.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and our traffic flow efficient. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
