Parent Working Bee – Register Now

As part of our Parent Involvement Program, each family contributes through either:

  • Two hours of volunteer service (grounds maintenance, classroom set-ups, event support, etc.), or
  • Paying a $100 levy, which is credited back once the working bee or community event participation is

completed.

This program helps build our Lighthouse community and encourages everyone to share responsibility for our facilities. The final opportunity to reclaim your $100 deposit is at the last Working Bee of the year, which will

take place on Saturday, 6 December from 9 to 11am.

You may sign up for a Working Bee using the following link: December 6 Working Bee

New Social Media Age Restrictions – Effective 10 December 2025

The Australian Government is introducing new age restrictions on social media from 10 December 2025. Under the changes, children under 16 will no longer be able to have accounts on major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X (Twitter) and YouTube.

These changes aim to protect young people from online risks and place responsibility on the platforms, not families. There are no penalties for children or parents, but companies can face fines of up to $49.5 million if they fail to comply.

What this means for families:

  • Students under 16 may still view public content (e.g. YouTube videos) without logging in.
  • Educational tools such as Google Classroom and YouTube Kids are not affected.
  • Parents are encouraged to discuss safe online use and review which apps their children use.

What the College is doing:

  • Reviewing school-linked social media and communication tools.
  • Promoting digital safety education and resources from the eSafety Commissioner.
  • Partnering with parents to help students develop healthy, responsible online habits.

For more details, visit the Social Media Age Restrictions Hub or explore the eSafety webinars for parents

and carers.

Together, we can support our young people to be wise, safe, and respectful digital citizens.
